I've said it before and I'll say it again....I am a sucker for cute packaging. Anything with sparkles, pretty colours, or a theme immediately grabs my attention. (Though that sometimes leads to purchases that are less than ideal.) This happened a little while ago, with the Too Faced Life's a Festival collection. With items in the line ranging from unicorn tears to rainbow highlighters and more, the one piece that really caught my eye was the eyeshadow palette. So, let's dig into this limited edition release and find out how it performs. Good? Bad? Glittery? Here is everything you need to know.
Packaging
Rainbow. Glitter. Unicorn. Yes, in terms of packaging, this little beauty has it all and then some. The palette has every cute, eye-catching, playful detail possible...to lure in package-obsessed makeup lovers like myself. For starters, there is the fact that the palette itself is shaped like a rainbow, and it has a squishy, cushioned kind of feel on top. Once you add in all of the pretty colours, the metallic finishes, and that glittery unicorn? Every inch is pure perfection. And this is all before you open up the package itself to reveal all of the fun colours inside. In short, this festival inspired eyeshadow palette is a fantasy come to life.
Colours and Quality
Generally speaking, I am a fan of Too Faced products. (There have been quite a few reviews on this blog and my YouTube channel over the years!) Their dedication to a good theme is commendable and the quality of the products is generally quite good. In this set specifically, each one of the shadows is nicely pigmented, smooth, and easy to blend. They are just beautiful. This palette also has the whole versatility thing on lock. There are no repeater shades (many palettes have multiple shades that are similar) and it includes a great mixture of colours and finishes. That includes neutrals, warm shades, and bold pops of colour.
Though each one of these shades is fabulous in its own right...there are two that stand out from the rest. They are Mystic Rain and Artist Pass. Both are holographic eyeshadows and they really know how to pack a punch. I like to wear these alone and let the light create an illusion of a more complex (and time consuming) makeup look. They can be paired with other shadows in the set as well but I think these work especially well for days that you are running late or want to create a quick and easy makeup look.
Overall Impressions
I am obsessed. Honestly, this palette has it all. Cute packaging? Check. Versatile shades and finishes? Check. Quality shadows? Check. This festival inspired eyeshadow palette is easily Too Faced's best effort yet. Not only is it fun but there are many beautiful looks to create with it, the pigmentation is impressive, and there is an added bonus as well: the highlight. In addition to all of those gorgeous eyeshadow shades, there is a Unicorn Tears powder highlight (a silver with purple undertones) that really is the cherry on top. This is one palette I cannot recommend enough. It is fun, exciting, and colourful.
Though there are many looks I have created with this palette lately, one in particular made me smile. It is a rainbow inspired look that I posted on my Instagram account a little while ago. It took about two minutes to create and turned out beautifully. Definitely let me know what you think of it....
